just had to comment on how grown up the girls look now. been following since the beginning it seems to have flown by!
its also nice to see your not dressing them the same so that they can develop their own individuality and that you've insisted that they are not known as 'the triplets'

Don't ever leave without telling them that you are going but prolonging the possibility of going can be hard on the children. After hanging around when ours first started nursery school at three and a half I found that what was upsetting C was the thought of me going, and while I was there she had to keep on thinking about it, so kept on crying. The technique I developed was that I would tell them all about the jobs I had to do before the very short time later when I would collect them. Then I walked in briskly with them, handed them over, kissed them goodbye and left. There was a bit of crying from two but I lurked outside and heard it stop - then I went. It was hard to do but the best in the long run.
We used to leave some of their toys on the window ledge at home watching for their return.
I think I found it harder than they did.

We start 'em young over here in the UK. But, no, it's not compulsory... not until next year, when they'll have only just turned four.

I think it's rather too young but if they're going to have to go to school next year, is it fair to not give them the chance to ease into it with three hours a day for a year?

Is pre-school a requirement in your country? Here in the USA, it isn't, and I coulnd't imagine having to send my lil' ones away. :-(. Although there certainly are children who attend pre-school, traditional schooling begins with Kindergarten, at age 5. HOIwever, if the child is 'young' in age/maturity/development, you are often encouraged to hold them back, and have them enter school the following year.

Its not selfish at all to want your children around you,it baffles me how in this country children start so young compared to say Sweden or Norway where I hear they start as late as 7! My girls Eleanor & Madeleine were born a few weeks before yours also with a due date of September, I used to post on Tamba back then.I am visiting 2 schools in the coming weeks to see which one I prefer but have spoken to the LEA & its quite alright to do as I intended which is keep them at home with me until they are 5,they will skip reception & start at year one :o) I am lucky enough to have a great pal who has home educated hers & find her very inspirational at showing a different way of doing things.

I dont mean this as critism, far from it,each must do as they feel best for their children, but just worried in case you thought you HAD to send them at this age, because you dont,I have had countless people smile & say oh school next year then & they are baffled when I say no not till they are 5 :o)

They are so young, they & we for that matter never get these years back.
Kindest regards x

Gosh that post was powerful. Your last line particularly spoke to me.
I've been battling with myself lately about this issue of shaping values and honoring my daughter for who she is, regardless of whether others value her attributes.
I set myself a task about 3 months ago, to list my values. You've really made me realise how urgent this list is.
Thank you and keep up the great work! :)

I hope Evie is doing better. Although I never broke any bones I had a tendency to do everything I could to end up bleeding some how :). I love your blog and would love to have you check out and sign up over at www.justdaddys.net. I would love to get someone like you with experience as a father to get in on the ground floor as a resource for fathers both new and old. If you have any questions or would like to talk to me let me know. Thanks for your time, and keep up the great informative blog.
